This week, the Roberts Recycling team travelled to Penrith to visit their charity partner, the Fire Fighters Charity, at Jubilee House, one of the UK’s leading rehabilitation and wellbeing centres supporting firefighters, serving personnel, retirees and their families through physical and psychological recovery.

Directors John, Paul and Simon were joined by Head of Marketing Lewis Webster and videographer Will, visiting the centre to see first-hand how the charity’s fundraising efforts, supported by textile recycling partners across the UK, help make these life-changing facilities possible.

Operated by the Fire Fighters Charity, Jubilee House is funded in part through a nationwide network of textile recycling partners, working collectively to generate vital income that supports recovery, rehabilitation and long-term wellbeing.

incredible impact

During the visit, the team met with Sandra Harrison from the Fire Fighters Charity, who through her 31 years working with the charity provided an in-depth insight at how the centre supports individuals on their recovery journeys.

From physiotherapy and rehabilitation programmes to mental health support and wellbeing services, Jubilee House offers a holistic environment designed to help people rebuild strength, confidence and quality of life.

For Simon, the visit was particularly meaningful, offering a powerful connection between the operational side of textile recycling and the people it ultimately supports.

“You see the collections, the volumes, the day-to-day operations… but coming here brings everything into perspective.

To hear the stories, to see the journeys people are on, and to understand how this support changes lives, it’s incredibly powerful.

It reminds you that the impact of what we do goes far beyond recycling.”

A partnership with purpose

Roberts Recycling has worked in partnership with the Fire Fighters Charity for over 10 years, supporting its fundraising through a network of textile recycling banks across the North West and Wales.

Servicing hundreds of locations, this partnership plays an important role in generating vital income for the charity, while also ensuring large volumes of textiles are diverted from landfill and kept in use.

By connecting everyday recycling with meaningful outcomes, the partnership continues to deliver both environmental and social impact, supporting the Fire Fighters Charity in providing essential care, recovery and rehabilitation services.
