Roberts Recycling Ltd has unveiled the first phase of an exciting new on-site sustainability initiative, marked by the completion of a bespoke woodpecker mural created by local artist Adam Bresnen.

Set against the backdrop of a bright spring day, the mural signals the beginning of a wider transformation at the company’s headquarters. The project will see the development of a dedicated garden space designed to support biodiversity while providing a calming environment for staff.

Planned features for the site include the planting of wildflowers, installation of beehives to support local pollinators, and the introduction of bug hotels to encourage wildlife. In keeping with the company’s circular ethos, seating will be constructed from recycled pallets, while pathways will utilise materials made from recycled end-of-life footwear.

The choice of a woodpecker as the mural’s focal point is symbolic. As a species known for creating habitats that benefit other wildlife, the woodpecker reflects the project’s broader aim of fostering a thriving, interconnected ecosystem within a working industrial environment.

This initiative forms part of Roberts Recycling’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, innovation, and creating spaces that positively impact both people and the planet.
