Running a business that sends reusable textiles around the world is built on trust.
Over the past few days I’ve been travelling to meet some of our long-standing international partners, following the journey of the pre-loved clothing we export from the UK and carrying out our regular due diligence visits.
These trips are an important part of how we operate at Roberts Recycling Ltd.
When you’re moving large volumes of reusable clothing into global markets, it’s essential to maintain strong relationships with the people receiving those goods and to see first-hand how the materials are handled, traded and ultimately reused.
Supporting Brands with Circular Solutions for Inventory

Our specialist area is supporting UK fashion brands with responsible circular solutions for their excess inventory.
From customer returns to discontinued lines and obsolete stock, brands increasingly need trusted partners who can ensure garments are directed into the right reuse and recycling markets.
One of the visits included spending time with a sports brand partner at their European depot, discussing future stock clearance agreements and how we can continue working together as their operations evolve.
At Roberts Recycling, textiles we process are exported for reuse through our established international network.
Ensuring those garments reach trusted wholesale partners, physical retail markets and established traders is central to maintaining the integrity of the global reuse system.
That’s why visits like this matter.
They allow us to strengthen relationships, review processes on the ground and explore opportunities for future collaboration.
We like to share these trips across our export team where possible, giving colleagues the opportunity to see the wider network they work with every day.
Running an international textile reuse operation takes more than logistics. It relies on trusted partnerships, shared standards and a clear understanding of the markets that give clothing a second life.
This time I was even joined by my mum Denise, which felt particularly fitting with both International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day approaching.
Happy International Women’s Day all!
