This month, Knowsley council’s Recycling Engagement Team brought a touch of festive magic to local libraries with a series of sustainable Christmas-themed workshops designed to inspire creativity and promote greener choices.

Families joined in the fun by decorating reusable Christmas stockings using festive stencils and colourful designs. The activity proved a hit with parents and children alike, offering a free, hands-on way to celebrate the season.

The team also championed the reuse revolution by encouraging children to give a second life to pre-loved Christmas jumpers, highlighting the importance of waste reduction during the busiest season of the year.

CHRISTMAS SUPPORT FROM ROBERTS RECYCLING

To make the day even more special, every child was able to chose a Christmas toy, donated by Roberts Recycling, the council’s textile recycling partner.

Roberts Recycling makes it easy for residents to recycle clothing and textiles, ensuring preloved items don’t go to waste, with recycling banks across Knowsley that you can find here:

As well as providing festive fun, visitors to the workshops also met with the Recycling Engagement Team, learned practical tips for sustainable living and discovered how small changes can make a big difference.

Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods, said “It was great to see our Recycling Engagement team out and about, delivering engaging events as well as sharing important recycling advice as we head into the festivities. We know that Christmas creates lots of opportunities to recycle and through these workshops, the team also demonstrated the importance of recycling clothing too.”
