Roberts Recycling was proud to support Halton ABC as the club competed at the prestigious Algarve Box Cup in Portugal.

Through sponsorship of the team’s entry fees, we helped make it possible for seven local athletes to travel and test themselves on the international stage against some of the strongest amateur talent in Europe.

Gold Success in Portugal

A standout moment from the tournament saw Rhea Kanu win Gold, earning Female Boxer of the Tournament and being recognised as Best Elite Female Boxer.

It was a remarkable achievement in what proved to be an extremely competitive environment, showcasing the depth of talent coming through at grassroots level.

Gaining International Experience

Strong performances also came from Reece Kanu, Matthew Headon, Ben Fryer and Bobby Lewtas.

Each boxer gained valuable international experience in highly competitive bouts, facing opponents with national and Olympic ambitions.

Coach Tommy Cavanagh described the event as a “really tough international competition, fighting some of the best and future Olympians in the world, with all of the fighters outdoing themselves.”

Investing in Community Sport

At Roberts Recycling, supporting local clubs and young athletes is an important part of our wider commitment to community impact.

From grassroots sport to education and sustainability initiatives, we believe in investing back into our communities.

We look forward to following Halton ABC’s continued journey as the team prepares for the upcoming Amateur Championships in England.
