An ongoing collaboration between Knowsley Council and Roberts Recycling has created a new opportunity for residents living in Halewood, with the launch of a brand-new doorstop collection service for unwanted clothing.

This is the latest in an ongoing partnership to make it easier than ever for residents across the borough to recycle their used clothes and help reduce the number of textiles going to waste.

Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods, joined the Recycling Engagement Team to deliver collection service stickers, she said:

“This initiative is another exciting step towards our ambition to become a cleaner greener Knowsley, by making it even easier for residents to recycle.”

“I’m already planning a wardrobe sort out this week, in time for the next weekly collection.”

Paul Roberts, Director of Roberts Recycling added:

“We’re delighted to introduce this doorstep clothing collection service for residents across Halewood alongside Knowsley Council.

“It’s a simple and accessible way for the community to recycle their unwanted clothing and footwear. This aligns with our mission to keep textiles out of landfill, ensuring items are reused or recycled wherever possible.

“We’re excited to see the positive impact this trial can have across Halewood.”

Collections take place every Thursday, residents need to book the service by 12pm the day before.

The trial weekly collection service can be accessed by residents in Halewood for L25 and L26 postcodes, via the link: Knowsley Council | Collect My Clothes.

If the trial proves successful, plans will be developed to broaden out the scheme in other parts of the borough.
