Textile Talks are a brand-new digital educational initiative for 2026, developed by Roberts Recycling to support new and existing members of the Recycle 4 School & Dragon Bags programmes.
We’re putting a face to the emails, showing pupils and teachers what textile recycling is and expressing why it matters.
HOW DOES IT WORK
The sessions provide a clear introduction to the programme for teachers and pupils who may ne unaware of their schools involvement with textile recycling or who may want to take on an active role in supporting collections!
Teachers book a session, we provide a session. These short, engaging talks help schools move beyond simply hosting a collection and build genuine understanding for pupils and enthusiasm for getting involved in textile recycling.
Each session runs for 30 minutes via Google Meet, making it easy for schools to join as a whole class, eco club, student council or small group of pupils.
FREE RESOURCES
During the session, we also explain the free resources available to the programme members, including seasonal campaign materials and educational worksheets developed by Roberts Recycling. These resources are updated throughout the year and sent out to schools to use.
We encourage teachers use these resources with pupils following the session, capture some photos/videos and share them with us so we can celebrate involvement across our social channels. Certificates are also provided to recognise project participation.

WHAT WE COVER
Through a screen shared presentation, pupils are introduced to who Roberts Recycling are, what textiles recycling is, why it is important to recycle textiles and how their school can help.
Pupils are encouraged to ask questions, share their ideas and understand how they can support their upcoming collection.
The sessions are aimed at primary schools and are delivered at appropriate KS1 / KS2 levels. Not only is it a perfect introduction to new, re-engaging and existing schools, but also for schools who are simply too far for one of our Textile Champions assemblies.
All teachers need to do is book a session. We provide the live session via Google Meet, which makes it easy for a whole class, eco club, student council or small group of pupils to join.
Over the 30 minute session, we take pupils beyond simply donating clothes, they learn why textile recycling is important, how it works and how they themselves can make a difference.

OUR FIRST TEXTILE TALK
Antrobus St Marks School student council were our first Textiles Talk session this year. The pupils were really enthusiastic and full of questions and ideas about how they could support textile recycling in their school.

A big thank you to Mrs Hughes and the student council – we’re looking forward to seeing how the pupils put their ideas into action!
Get Involved
We can’t wait to reach more schools in 2026 and help schools by getting involved in our educational and meaningful programme.
