Roberts Recycling Ltd has been formally presented with its third King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade, marking a significant milestone in the company’s fifteenth year of operation.

The award was presented at the company’s Cheshire headquarters by Lady Alexis Redmond MBE, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire, who was joined by Sir Phil Redmond CBE, Councillor Martha Lloyd Jones, Mayor of Halton, and Peter Lloyd Jones, Consort to the Mayor.

The ceremony brought together representatives from partner organisations, community groups and local stakeholders to celebrate the achievement.

Among the additional guests were Councillor Mike Wharton, Leader of Halton Borough Council and Deputy Mayor of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, Councillor Eddie Dourley, and Wesley Rourke, Executive Director for Environment and Regeneration at Halton Council.

Speaking at the presentation, Director Simon Roberts reflected on the significance of the award:

“This isn’t just work for us. It’s something we care deeply about. Being able to tackle fashion waste, support our charity partners and help inspire the next generation is a privilege we don’t take for granted.”

Roberts Recycling operates major textile recycling facilities in Cheshire and Cardiff, collecting, sorting and exporting millions of clothing items each year. Through a reuse-first approach, the company ensures textiles are responsibly diverted from landfill, supplying trusted international partners for reuse or recycling.

The company’s global growth reflects increasing international demand for responsible textile recycling solutions, with this latest King’s Award recognising sustained success in export performance.

Winning organisations gain the right to fly the King’s Award flag for five years, use the official emblem across corporate materials and attend a Royal Reception.

Simon Roberts added:

“We’re incredibly proud to receive this honour for the third time. It reflects the dedication of our team, the trust of our charity and brand partners, and the support of customers worldwide. As we celebrate fifteen years in business, it still feels like we’re just getting started.”

The King’s Award for Enterprise is the UK’s most prestigious business accolade, recognising outstanding achievements in international trade, innovation, sustainable development and promoting opportunity through social mobility.
