Residents in Prescot now have a new, convenient way to recycle unwanted clothing and household textiles, following the installation of a new textile recycling bank at Prescot Town Council car park.
The new location builds on the continued rollout of textile recycling infrastructure across Knowsley, delivered in partnership with Roberts Recycling, making it easier for residents to recycle closer to home.
The bank was officially marked with a visit from Prescot Town Council representatives, including Deputy Town Clerk Louise Sephton, highlighting the shared commitment to improving local recycling opportunities and supporting more sustainable habits across the community.

Supporting access to textile recycling
The addition of the Prescot Town Council site strengthens coverage in the borough, particularly within Prescot town centre, providing a central and accessible point for residents to recycle clean clothing, footwear and household textiles.
Residents in Prescot can now recycle at two convenient locations:
All textiles collected are transported to Roberts Recycling’s facility in Halebank, Widnes, where items are carefully sorted and processed.
Re-wearable items are prepared for reuse through trusted global partners, helping extend the life of clothing, while worn or damaged textiles are recycled into practical materials such as insulation products and industrial cleaning cloths.
Building on momentum across Knowsley
The new Prescot location follows a strong initial rollout of textile recycling banks across Knowsley, which has already seen significant engagement from local residents.
To further expand access, an additional bank has also recently been installed at KGV Sports Complex car park in Huyton (Longview Lane, L36 7UN), offering another convenient option for residents in the area.
Together, these growing locations are helping to embed textile recycling into everyday routines, ensuring that more materials are kept in use and out of waste streams.
Making recycling part of everyday life
With more sites being introduced across the borough, the partnership continues to focus on accessibility, awareness and responsible recycling.
As more residents take simple steps to recycle their unwanted textiles, the collective impact continues to grow, supporting Knowsley’s wider sustainability ambitions and reducing the volume of textiles that could otherwise go to waste.
