LJMU Students Visit Roberts Recycling to Explore Textile Sustainability

We were delighted to welcome a group of students from Liverpool John Moores University to our Halebank Headquarters, Cheshire, this past week.

The visit gave a total of five students from LJMU Computer Science & Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering Degree Programmes, and Final Year L6 Design Projects a unique opportunity to connect their university learning with real-world applications in textile and footwear product sustainability, supported by Digital 4.0 technologies.

During the session, the group met with Roberts Recycling Director John Roberts and members of the operations team to learn more about how textiles are sorted, processed and prepared for reuse and recycling.

“We’re delighted to welcome students from Liverpool John Moores University to our Halebank headquarters. It’s brilliant to see such bright young minds exploring how technology and innovation can help shape the future of textile sustainability. The group asked some fantastic questions that showed real curiosity and will no doubt help guide their project work.”

Dr David G. Evans from the Horizons Team – Faculty of Health, Innovation, Technology and Science at Liverpool John Moores University accompanied students on the visit.

We look forward to continuing to support LJMU’s teaching and research in this area, and supporting students with future projects.
