RGI x PLAINE OUTDOORS

Materials in Motion / Moving Wild 002

Made for the world outside. Made to stay in it.

A limited-run clothing collaboration connecting materials, movement and the outdoors. Created by Plaine Outdoors with RGI as part of Materials in Motion, the collection will begin its journey at Moving Wild 002.

The collaboration

A longer journey

Plaine Outdoors creates limited-run clothing for adventures that stay with you. RGI works to keep textiles in use and out of landfill.

Materials in Motion brings those ideas together. Each garment has been designed to move beyond the point of purchase: outdoors, into the community and through the experiences of the person wearing it.

The collaboration begins with Moving Wild 002, where the garments and their owners will take their first journey together.

The best journey is a longer one.

The materials

Made for a longer journey

The collection uses cotton fabrics: organic cotton in three designs, and a combination of organic and recycled cotton in the Waypoint Tee, giving existing material another use.

For RGI, the journey continues through how we care for clothing and what we do when we’re finished with it. Wear it, repair it and pass it on – keeping each garment in use for longer.

Where will yours go?

Every garment’s journey continues after Moving Wild 002 – another hike, a daily commute, a walk to the shop. Share a photo and a short story about where you’ve taken yours, and it may appear here.

Afterwards

And when you’re finished with it?

We’d rather a garment had a long life than a quick recycle. In order:

01

Repair or rework it – patch a tear, mend a seam or get creative with a stain. A local repairer or alterations service could help give it another chapter.

02

Pass it on – if you’re ready for something different, give it to someone who’ll keep wearing it.

03

Use a textile collection route – if it can no longer be worn or repaired, choose a service that accepts damaged clothing.

04

Return it to RGI – we’ll assess it for reuse and help find its next purpose.

The garments begin together. Where they go next is up to the people wearing them.
