WHAT ARE THE 3 R’S OF RECYCLING?

Learning about the 3 R’s is one small step to help us better the environment. The 3 R’s aim to encourage sustainable living and help to cut down on the amount of waste we have to throw away.

Simply put the 3 R’s mean Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Reduce the amount of waste we have, Reuse our current clothing and shoes and Recycle our unwanted items wherever possible.

Reduce

Reducing the amount of textiles/clothing we buy and consume is the first step in cutting down our impact on the environment. If we can manage our buying and stop over-consuming, then we will have less to worry about in terms of how can we correctly dispose of the unwanted items we have. And so it simple means by owning less, we will natural have less stuff we want to get rid of.

Reuse

The 21st-century world is a place full of options. From tv shows to clothing stores, we have so many options right at our fingertips. However, with all this choice we forget about the products we already have within our homes. There are so many ways we can reuse items, from using a finished candle pot for your pens/pencils to tie-dying your old white t-shirt to make it fresh and new.

Reusing items we own is not only helpful in stopping stuff from going to landfill but it’s fun and creative and it allows us to think outside the box.

Recycle

Recycling is exactly where we come in. Our recycling helps put a stop to your unwanted clothing going to landfill and it reduces the pollution caused by waste. In addition, it also requires much less energy and therefore helps to save natural resources. The list of positive attributes around recycling truly does go on.

Overall, we believe learning the 3 R’s from a young age allows the younger generation to grow up understanding how they can play their part in keeping the environment healthy.

So if you are looking to kick start your recycling journey, why not reach out to us and get your school, nursery, or community involved.
