The textile industry is experiencing exciting changes as it moves towards a circular economy. While challenges are ahead, our commitment to our partners is to stay ahead of the game by staying updated on relevant technologies.
Our recent acquisition of fibre identification machinery is a prime example. The state-of-the-art technology uses near-infrared spectroscopy to identify what an item is made from quickly. This allows us to separate items made of the same materials, which can then be sent for mechanical or chemical recycling. Collaboration will be necessary as the industry progresses and the technology becomes available for large-scale fibre-to-fibre implementation.
Whenever possible, we bring recycling processes in-house. We do this by utilising a local prison-based service to transform absorbent materials into wiping rags for industrial use. Although this follows a linear model, it replaces the need for new materials and allows individuals to learn new skills.
The textile industry is constantly evolving, and we are actively investing in advanced technology and in-house recycling solutions. We aim to contribute to the circular economy, promote sustainability, and create opportunities for learning and growth.
