Roberts Win Reuse Initiative of the Year Award

We’re delighted to announce that Roberts Recycling Ltd has been named Reuse Initiative of the Year at the letsrecycle.com Awards for Excellence in Recycle and Waste Management 2025.

Held on Thursday 1st May in London’s iconic Grosvenor Hotel, the awards celebrated the UK’s top performing brands in recycling and sustainability. This recognition marks a major milestone in Roberts Recycling’s 15-year journey to divert unwanted textiles from landfill.

The Reuse Initiative of the Year category saw Roberts Recycling shortlisted alongside global leaders including Coca-Cola, Veolia, SUEZ, Ocado and more.

“This award recognises the very heart of our mission. To emerge as the winner is a proud and humbling moment for our entire team.” said Director, John Roberts.

Textile Reuse That Creates Real Impact

In 2024, our nationwide textile recycling and recovery programmes:

  • Raised £2.5 million for charities and schools
  • Diverted 24 million clothing items from landfill
  • Saved over 107,000 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions
  • Engaged hundreds of schools through our Recycle 4 School and Dragon Bags programmes in England and Wales
  • Supported many UK and EU fashion brands with ethical textile recycling solutions

Educating the Next Generation

In late 2024, we launched a new education strand to our mission by delivering assemblies and workshops on textile recycling and sustainability in primary schools, whilst supporting various community recycling education initiatives.

This approach reflects our belief that sustainability must be taught, shared and lived. We’re proud that our educational focus was recognised as a key strength in this year’s judging process.

We work with schools, charities and brands to give textiles a second life, funding vital causes, promoting sustainability and keeping materials in use for as long as possible.

A Day to Remember

The awards were hosted by Ben Shephard and attended by sustainability leaders from across the UK. John Roberts was joined on the day by a surprise last-minute guest, his dad Phil, as the team celebrated this major achievement together.

“Our dedicated team, amazing partners and a belief in what we do makes this all possible. We’d like to thank the letsrecycle.com team and judges for recognising our work, and extend our congratulations to every finalist and winner making a difference across the UK.”
