John Roberts, Director at Roberts Recycling: When our fashion brand and retail partners send us their textile surplus and returned inventory, much of it arrives in cardboard packaging. That means around 6,000 boxes are processed every week here on site.

Cardboard is loaded into an industrial baler. The machine compresses it into a dense, mill-sized bale.

John speaks in the warehouse as team members handle reusable boxes and the baling process continues.
John Roberts: Just like the textiles that arrive in these boxes, our priority is to keep them in circulation as they were originally intended. So if the box can be used again, we will use it again for other purposes around the warehouse. If not, it’s sent to this machine and baled up into mill-sized bales, ready for onward recycling.

John Roberts: At Roberts Recycling, we see waste as a resource, and we’re all about keeping materials in motion.
