Sunlight shines through green leaves. Paul Roberts stands in front of a large mural depicting a woodpecker on a tree. An on-screen caption identifies him as Director of Partnerships & Commercial at RGI.
Paul Roberts, Director of Partnerships & Commercial: The sun is shining. Beautiful day to be filming, and I’ve got something I’d like to show you. It’s our very secret, nicely shaded, unfinished eco garden.
[00:17]
Paul walks through a narrow, tree-lined area between the RGI facility and its perimeter fence. The ground is being prepared and landscaping tools are visible.
Paul Roberts: So this is a bit of space that we don’t do anything with, a bit of dead space. We’ve decided to turn it into an eco garden. So have a little walk with me and we’ll show you our plans.
[00:27]
Paul points out the proposed route through the garden. Views show the outlined pathway, contoured soil, trees and work taking place around the site.
Paul Roberts: We’re going to have a nice little path for people to do their daily little walks, get the steps in on their lunch break. We’re going to have a few contoured bits of land, and then we’re going to have wildflowers in there. We’re going to have pollinator-friendly areas.
[00:41]
An aerial view establishes the surrounding industrial area before returning to the shaded garden space and its mature trees.
Paul Roberts: Even though it is an industrial area, we’d like to show a bit of an example of what can be done in a small bit of green space on an industrial plot. It’d just be nice for people to go on their lunch breaks, coffee breaks, come out here, have a few seconds, because it’s so hot at the moment. It’s just nice to get a bit of shaded area.
[00:57]
Views of the trees and developing garden accompany Paul as he discusses plans for wildlife and staff wellbeing.
Paul Roberts: We love bees, so we’re looking at putting a beehive here, producing honey, promoting the local pollinators in the area. It’s a nice way to connect with nature.
[01:06]
Paul continues walking through the garden, gesturing towards the available space and proposed path.
Paul Roberts: We could show an example for other companies who work in industrial areas to just use this little bit of space to create something pleasant and to benefit the local environment. We’re going to rig up cameras, see what visitors we get overnight, and just really share the journey and see what is possible when we try and work alongside nature.
[01:26]
Paul walks along the future pathway. Close-up views show the woodpecker mural and surrounding trees.
Paul Roberts: So we’re walking down our future mindfulness walk. Materials are in motion. We’re on a journey. Why not join us?
[01:36]
The words “Materials in Motion” appear, followed by the RGI logo. A brief outtake then shows Paul back in the garden.
Paul Roberts: We love bees. We love bees.
