Councillor Shelley Powell stands beside new Roberts Recycling textile banks at Huyton Hey Car Park.

Councillor Shelley Powell: Good morning. I’m Councillor Shelley Powell from Knowsley Borough Council, and we’re here today at Huyton Hey Car Park to have a look at our amazing new recycling containers.

[00:16]

Paul Roberts: We’re delighted to officially announce that Roberts Recycling is the official textile recycling partner of Knowsley Council.

Currently, we have four banks across the borough, with plans to introduce more. These banks make it easy for local residents to recycle unwanted clothes, helping us to reduce waste.

Knowsley has always been our home, so it’s so good that we can now announce this partnership and that we’re here as the official textile recycler.

This is one of many sites. We’re going to be rolling out more over the coming months, and it’s just going to make textile recycling easier and easier.

Councillor Powell demonstrates the new textile banks as representatives from the two organisations gather at the site.

Councillor Shelley Powell: This is an amazing facility for us all to cut back on our waste. We’ve got fabulous new bins, and we can all bring down our textiles—anything we don’t need after a clear-out—and pop it in the bins.

[00:57]

Paul Roberts: It’s our mission to keep clothing out of landfill and in use for as long as possible. These banks and this partnership make it easier for people in Knowsley to recycle their clothing.
